Dan welcomes everyone back from the break and opens Eden Town Hall 86 to kick off Season 13
0:01
[music]
0:09
Hello, hello, and welcome back to Eden Fractal. I am very pleased to be back here with Tadas and Rosmari and
0:17
Zaal. We've been having some great uh conversations, so thanks for being here. And uh yeah, we're here for Eden
0:22
Fractal Season 13 at Eden Town Hall 85, I think we're at or 86 now. And so
0:28
we're going to have a discussion for the next 45 minutes or so and kind of reconnect and talk about what we've done at Eden uh over the break. It's been
0:36
[music] 2 months or so since we last met. We had a 6 weeks on a break uh and
0:42
we're now back for at our new time actually by the way um at 14 UTC which
Dan notes the new times, with Town Hall at 14 UTC and the Respect Game at 15 UTC
0:48
is the time of now basically uh for the town hall and then we'll do an Eden Fractal Respect Game at 15 UTC. And uh
0:56
yeah, I'm really pleased to be back and take the next steps in our journey here at Eden Fractal and work to help
1:02
everybody improve their collective decision-making too. So um yeah, I guess you
1:08
guys all know it, but uh for anybody who hasn't been with us for a while, EdenFractal.com and we put out some posts
1:14
in the Eden Fractal Telegram group, too, kind of sharing um what we're excited to
Dan opens the floor and notes that all four participants hold council seats to approve proposals
1:20
work on this break. And then during this event, we can basically have an open discussion, talk about our goals for the season, reconnect. Just feel free to
1:26
share whatever's on your mind, guys. And then um if we want, I think actually the four of us are councilors. I think each
1:32
of us have one council seat. So if we wanted to make any proposals and approve them, then three or four of us could agree to approve a proposal. Uh and then
1:40
we will play the respect game uh in about 45 minutes. And yeah, currently
1:46
we're still on this bi-weekly schedule, too. So, the next events will be on Thursday, September 24th, I believe. Uh,
1:51
and the videos from the most recent events right before the break have been published. We did a great episode with Zaal about the ZAO ecosystem and Sparks
1:59
and some other initiatives that he was doing with ZAO Games. Uh, and we also had a season 12 finale of the Respect
2:04
Game. So, you can check those out on the Eden Creators YouTube channel if you haven't done so. Uh, but otherwise, um,
2:10
what would you guys like to talk about? Uh, anything on on your mind? Uh maybe we can rekindle some of the discussions
2:17
we were having before we start recording or uh we can just go in any direction really.
Dan welcomes Tadas, Rosmari and Zaal back and asks about their break
2:23
What do you think, Tadas or Rosmari? Um, Zaal is driving right now. So um
2:28
I'm happy to share some updates or discuss any topics really. And uh yeah,
2:34
I'll just say it's really good to see you, Tadas, and I'm really glad you're here as well as Rosmari too. We've been collaborating a
2:40
lot more too now that she uh is more officially legal to like collaborate with us. So, um you can talk more about
2:48
that too. Uh but anyway, curious to hear from you all. What's up? How you been? How was summer? Did you go surfing?
2:56
[laughter] Yeah. [snorts] Yeah, sure.
3:01
Perfect. Perfect activity in my condition. Yeah. [laughter]
3:06
I figured Well, I heard that you were sleeping rest, so that's good. And then maybe you
3:12
can save more of the surfing maybe uh for for next summer and you can chart
3:17
the different islands you want to go to visit on on that map behind you. Yeah, sure.
Tadas asks everyone for updates and for concrete expectations of where the season should go
3:25
Uh, regarding what we could do today, I don't know, [snorts] maybe people have
3:31
some updates like you Dan mentioned, I'd be eager to
3:36
get here. And also, if anyone has some
3:42
concrete expectations, concrete thoughts about where we could go this season,
3:49
what are their expectations for this season? That would be Yeah. So, I I have
3:55
something I'm curious if we could like spark up. So, uh we've started being
Zaal raises the idea of Eden Fractal sessions at other times, hosted by other people and open to Zao Fractal members
4:00
more regular with having a second conversation or a second opportunity to
4:06
have ZAO members participate in the ZAO Fractal. And we've been doing them
4:11
like let's say three or four weeks regularly uh along the lines of Tuesdays
4:18
at 12:00 p.m. Eastern because that's more reasonable for some other time
4:23
zones in addition to our Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. So, I'm curious if there's
4:29
any way or an interesting opportunity of like reaching out to people in all of
4:36
the fractal chats and saying, "Hey, if there was another time on another day and I'd be potentially willing to
4:41
organize it or or or facilitate it if if it was at a time that I could manage um
4:48
that people would want to do an Eden Fractal and the possibilities of something like Eden Fractal not
4:54
happening only on a specific time period, but also happening with other individuals because as of right now
5:00
that's not possible because the only people participating in Eden Fractal is most of us here and then other people
5:07
maybe on like a yearly basis on on the anniversary years. So, um I'm curious if
5:13
some of those people there's a potential opportunity for them to come in because
5:18
if there's more time or even if there isn't the actual practicality of it right now for Eden Fractal, the
5:24
consequence of if we do scale and have people come in and have this opportunity, what are we going to do
5:30
with that? because I'm currently at that point and I'm curious if we can create like an open boundary for like if I
Zaal asks what defines an Eden Fractal game, including quorum minimums and how it differs from Zao Fractal
5:37
wanted to run an Eden Fractal with four people and I could show them what it was
5:42
like or and or com combining that with ZAO Fractal or determining like this is
5:48
a function of something that is fit in criteria for something that's Eden Fractal this is a rubric or
5:56
functionality of something that does fit under the ZAO Fractal and like what the rubric is and like what a perfect
6:01
response is to like what like at least a bare minimum response needs to be and like where that overlap potentially is
6:08
as well. So that's something I'm curious in exploring and yeah like yeah leave
6:13
that open to discussion for everyone else but like kind of curious if if even in this group like we can decide it is
6:20
that something that Eden Fractal wants or like I mean even right now I understand like it wouldn't make sense
6:26
to like practically like do one or organize one because we don't have like
6:31
we wouldn't hit our like I don't know do we need a quorum to like actually do fractals do is yours three like I've
6:38
created ours as four minimum people to to do a fractal game. So yeah, those are
6:44
kind of like general thoughts and things that I'm working on and thinking. Uh yeah,
6:52
thanks, Zaal, and thanks, Tadas. All right. So, we have uh
6:59
so we have several topics that we could discuss here and um
7:04
also curious Rosmari if there's anything that you want to discuss too. Feel free to unmute so we can just all just put out there and then kind of like
7:09
answer whatever we think is best uh or I suppose proceed in whatever order we think is best on different topics. happy
7:16
to also answer some of those questions that Zaal mentioned at the end there too real quick and then we can go deeper
7:22
into them and I can share my perspective as well as I think that Tadas brought up some great points about like more so
7:28
broadly focusing on the direction for the season and expectations for the season things we can do and some updates so I see Rosmari has unmuted those so
Rosmari summarizes Zaal's idea of promoting Eden Fractal in other groups and letting more people host
7:34
Rosmari yeah I agree I'm also interested in hearing about that the what everyone
7:39
thinks like what I just heard what thought and Zaal. Um
7:46
what I'm also curious in finding out about like what what what's on
7:52
everyone's mind when we discuss these topics of interest and
7:59
for specific ones like what Zaal mentioned about um like promoting the Eden Fractal
8:06
event more into different in in different groups and com possibly combining it with
8:14
uh like ZAO Fractal, let's say, or just like having it more
8:21
more so that anyone can host it if they want to or just giving more room for
8:27
more people to host it at different times. Uh
8:34
I that's what I understood as an idea as like a summary of it. um make we can
8:40
like I'm also curious to hear about discussing such topics too
8:46
and yeah when my turn goes I can also share what's on what's what's been on my mind but yeah I
8:54
overall like where the conversation is going so
8:59
if you want then you can you can go next and share your thoughts
9:05
okay sounds good and Yeah. Um I'm also curious about those things on your mind that um
9:12
that you like to share too. So if you want to go ahead and share those now, then you can feel free. But otherwise, I can go and share some of my things on my
9:18
mind that we can. Yeah, go first. Okay, sounds good. So um yeah, I'm I'm
9:23
keeping some notes right now to come back to like the specific things that uh Zaal mentioned. Um, and yeah, I think this
9:31
is a pretty good format where we can kind of like just hear from everyone and decide what to discuss is we don't have
9:37
like a formal kind of like topic prioritization game right now. So we can kind of do like informally kind of just
9:43
figure out what is the most important priorities for us to discuss here and then what should be the way that we like
9:48
um determine these um or determine the priority and when to discuss them in
9:54
this about 45 minutes left we have in the meeting or 40 minutes. Um so
Dan shares his strategy for the season, building on four and a half years of foundations toward sustainability and scale
10:02
yeah I'm keen to talk about overall strategy for what we want to achieve in
10:08
this season. Um, we've been building for almost four and a half years here in Eden Fractal. Uh, and I think that we've
10:15
set a lot of the foundations for taking it to the next level. Um, and
10:23
making it a much more sustainable um,
10:29
opportunity for us as contributors um, as well as scale the impact and make it
10:35
um, sustainable for many more people to contribute. um and provide more incentives to do so and uh take what we
10:44
built so far and all these ideas like we've come up with all these ideas especially over the past year uh well
10:49
over the past over the past five years or so we've come with ideas but especially over the past year year and a half since we started Epoch 2 we've had
10:55
a lot of great brainstorming sessions about different tools we can build and different innovations and like there's so many things we can do and a lot of it
11:02
is like half done or it's in like conceptualization stages but it's in like pretty well mature conceptualization stages. So over the
Dan explains how he organized the work over the break around project priorities and an entity that can raise and allocate funding
11:10
break I had the opportunity to think about how to organize this work and also like the priority of different projects
11:18
um and how to connect this with this like sustainable foundation in terms of
11:23
creating this entity that can do fundraising and hope to allocate fundraising and put these governance processes that we've been building to
11:31
more of a um more of a test with capital uh as well as um yeah like bring them
11:39
into practice in the newer version like after all this ideation and some pilot programs and so forth and some tests we've done to actually like implement
11:47
these programs and pilot projects and so forth. Um so I'm excited to do that in
11:53
this season. Like for example before the recording started I told I was thinking a lot about respect trees and the
Dan revisits respect trees for prioritizing projects and describes a firmament pilot supporting the upcoming nonprofit
11:59
experiments that we did earlier in the year. I think they're super useful and I have some more clear ideas of how we can do a respect trees type system. um for
12:08
prioritizing different projects and capital allocation and so forth and we also talked about Firmament and like
12:14
this kind of git repository that's secure and I also have a pretty clear idea how we can do a pilot program of that as well and that can support um
12:21
like these governance processes that can work with that can work alongside the upcoming
12:27
nonprofit that I'm planning to launch um to help create a more like cohesive and
12:32
coordinated effort towards driving towards our mission uh and making it sustainable. Um and
Dan reflects on years of volunteer effort and the shift toward fundraising, tools and educational materials
12:40
like um like basically a lot of the efforts have been on a volunteer effort
12:45
or a volunteer basis for the past few years with occasional grants here and there and not even very many grants over
12:50
the past year or two since we've been kind of building and haven't focused too much outwardly on grants, but focus more
12:56
outwardly on fundraising. uh as well as the tools and methods and community
13:03
engagement and education materials and so forth to scale our impact. So that's kind of broad and I mentioned a couple
13:09
things in particular there but but there's a lot of like interacted projects and programs I'm seeing. So, I'd like to share some thoughts about
13:14
like I suppose as a community what we can focus on in like these town halls and
13:21
also um like basically what we can implement as councilors um to determine
13:27
like what is the best path for what we should implement as a community and I'm happy to share more of my thoughts about that as we proceed in this meeting and
13:34
also in the coming weeks. Um and then I see Zaal you have your hand up so I'm curious about you. But then just briefly
Dan responds to the multiple event times idea, noting Timothy raised it and the design work it still needs
13:40
on your comment too uh that you're mentioning. I think also having multiple events at different times that's a very
13:46
interesting idea and I was actually looking for it cuz I know that Timothy mentioned that and I had created a task or a project in the Eden Fractal Notion
13:53
space um that is about that and so I was looking for that and I can share that but I think that's a very interesting
14:01
idea although it it will take some like design work to figure like like right now for example we don't have any sort of rule about like uh how many people
14:08
need to participate in Eden respect game in order for it to be an official game uh like you do with the ZAO Fractal and um
14:15
and there was like several other considerations I thought about when I was thinking about that previously. So I think that's a good idea. Um, but I
14:22
think it's probably also probably later in the priority list overall in terms of like I think there are things that are
14:28
more developed right now that are kind of like more low-hanging fruit for us to drive towards our mission and drive towards our goals um and also earn
14:35
funding too. Uh, but also I'm very interested to hear your ideas about that too because I think it's valuable in like the medium term as well and and
14:41
also long term. Um, so with that uh thanks, Zaal, for listening and Zaal, I see your hands up so I'll pass it back to
Zaal offers to add everyone to his ZAO Artizen group and explains the match funding cycle
14:47
you. two things. Funding I'm going to add the three of you guys to my ZAO
14:52
Artizen group I think uh like and I can manage this if it really like comes to
14:57
it for Eden Fractal. Um like and I would do it tonight. I could do it tonight or in the next couple days and just make a
15:04
project and and have a project link up. But I think we should be using and leveraging that because the whole game
15:09
of Artizen over there with funding is like essentially match funding. Uh but
15:15
it comes in as chunks uh at the end of the season. So the season is bound to
15:20
end around right now that this upcoming one around January which means the funding would come in in around February
15:26
or March. But it's something that we could push every single week or like here and there. It can be something that
15:32
Eden Fractal or other Fractal members that aren't participating into in their time but like have 10 $15 here or there
15:39
that want to participate and uh add value or funding to to the project could
15:44
could be a good place. And then the second point I wanted to make is my idea
Zaal asks who runs the social accounts and proposes a weekly meeting on the posting schedule and automations
15:50
for us as councilors is a who runs the social media accounts b can I be in a
15:56
weekly meeting with the individual that runs the social media accounts? I'm not saying I want to run the social media accounts at all because to be honest
16:02
with you, it'd probably just be like AI slop if if I had to run more social media accounts because I'm already
16:10
in time towards the things that I have to run. But I would love to be in the conversation with the posting schedule,
16:17
content calendar, and like helping with automations there of like not in the actual content itself, but in the flow
16:23
of information flow and distribution of like uh paragraph.com recently has had a
16:28
big upgrade with their agents where you can even post to X articles right there or XOS right there. Uh and it's really
16:35
smooth. Um so yeah, those are three things like the last two things kind of being combined. Um, but yeah, uh, I
16:43
appreciate, uh, everything you guys are doing. Uh, and, uh, and yeah, those are kind of three things that might be a
16:49
little bit more of that low hanging fruit that we can start knocking out to get people here.
17:00
You're muted, Dan. Thanks, Tadas. Um, yeah, I was going to
Dan confirms that Rosmari and he run the accounts and describes the Paragraph newsletter project
17:06
say maybe I'll just briefly comment on that. Thanks, Zaal, for the comments and ideas. So, one I also been monitoring Artizen as well and I think
17:14
that's awesome. So, I'd love to learn more about that. Um and I think that can go along with some of the fundraising
17:20
efforts and planning that Rosmari and I have been thinking about. Um and so I appreciate you bringing that up and
17:25
thinking about how we can help support uh the Eden Fractal community. Um and then also regarding the social media
17:31
accounts, currently those are being run by Rosmari and myself. So yeah, I'd be
17:37
happy to uh speak with you about that too. And we've also been thinking a lot about how to improve our whole marketing
17:42
campaign. So uh maybe it'd be great for us to um maybe meet with the three of us
17:47
sometime uh and talk more about how we can uh provide more and better uh
17:54
systems for I suppose improving our our social media
18:00
presence uh using things like paragraph. We've talked about uh starting up a paragraph series and and newsletter and
18:06
and we have and we have a project that's been in development for there. We've also been working on making the skills to facilitate the um scaling up of
18:14
making like quality promotions that we feel like represent the voice uh and like the mission and values of Eden
18:20
Fractal and the Eden creators team. Uh well, so yeah, I'd love to uh speak with you about that and collaborate. I think
18:26
that could be a great thing that we could do going forward in uh this season as well. Thanks, Zaal.
18:34
Curious if you have any thoughts about that Zaal or any responses or Rosmari or Tadas if you have any thoughts on on
18:40
this or anything else that we have discussed so far. He's also muted. Maybe let's uh try and do Friday um for
Zaal proposes Friday marketing meetings and a vision of posting to socials based on Respect earned
18:48
our normal time and start doing that around marketing uh Eden Fractal because
18:54
one of the things I would love to do is like how one of the things I have this vision for and I've kind of created
19:00
technically like it does work um and it or it did in the past at some point but
19:06
the uh idea is posting to social accounts based on
19:14
Respect earned. So I set our quorum for
19:19
social posting to the ZAO to a thousand and such that anyone with a thousand or
19:25
more ZAO could immediately post to ZAO socials as well as um artizen.thezao.com
19:33
but artizen.fund is the Artizen link. Um,
19:38
and I have a fund there and Dan, you could apply the Eden Fractal fund right to it and I would accept it because we've already done a media uh presence
19:45
that I could ping with the ZAO Games, but I would love to do another one specifically around fundraising for Artizen. But anyways, I digress. Um,
19:53
what was I talking about? Now I forget. Um,
19:59
um, do you remember? Well, you're talking about how we could perhaps meet on Fridays to talk about these things. And then I also got a bit
20:04
confused, too. Oh. uh on that topic just like marketing and promo. And then the point of what I was saying was uh I
Zaal suggests using Respect to propose posts on Eden Fractal socials, with councilors approving them
20:12
think one of the things that would be valuable for me would be to be to use my fractal respect to propose to make a
20:20
post about the fractal on the Eden Fractal socials. And I'm not saying that
20:27
my amount should make it happen automatically, but my amount maybe it
20:32
doesn't count fractal respect total and maybe it's councilors, right? Maybe it's three out of four councilors can approve
20:38
a social post going out uh being proposed by someone else. um a and or
20:43
what the guidelines for a social post for Eden Fractal would be because like does fractal like community post saying
20:51
like okay these are the times that these fractals are happening as well as ZAO Fractal on Tuesdays bi-weekly. um I
20:59
think they would be uh super excited to like be able to post that through there or at least start to propose the idea of
21:06
a social post and then as a community coming together on like what is a good social post and curating and cultivating
21:11
that and like having a conversation around that. So that was my point. Uh my
21:17
like uh request or like ask or uh idea would be to start rehashing that up in
21:23
our Friday conversations which we were previously doing and maybe inviting Rosmari to that and changing it towards
21:30
since we've never really had like a really good targeted goal just like having that be a a marketing time and
21:37
and maybe even opening it up as maybe after not tomorrow but like after a conversation to to other individuals
21:44
that are interested in in helping support the marketing push or could just having a private meeting with us. But
21:49
yeah, I think our our time that we've previously used would be a good time to to reset.
Dan separates the work into manual promotion improvements and longer term promotional infrastructure
21:56
Mhm. Yeah, absolutely. I agree. I say Rosmari put up a thumbs up at some point. I'd be curious to hear her thoughts about this in more detail. Uh
22:03
but yeah, I would love to meet uh with you on uh Friday and we can do Fridays going forward if you'd like to talk
22:08
about these in more detail. Um, and yeah, to me it seems like um
22:15
there's kind of like maybe broadly two phases or two different areas or tracks
22:20
of work um that that you kind of mentioned. And I think one is kind of just like there's some improvements
22:26
towards the more manual system of of making promotions and lots and lots of
22:32
relatively low hanging fruit there for different kinds of promotions we could do. But then there's also like educational and promotional infrastructure that we can set up and
22:39
also also like application kind of things like reinventing social media or not reinventing necessarily but uh
22:45
integrating respect into social media and improving social media with respect which I've been I've been tantalized
22:52
about and I thought about that for like 5 years now. I think it's an awesome idea and I know it's also down to like the roots of say the Fractally
22:58
white paper talked about that a lot and over the break I I learned about some some technical tools that might help
23:05
facilitate that. Um and I also thought about how actually I think I thought at some point about how respect trees could
23:10
also help facilitate that in some way too. So there's some like design work and thinking work and also technical implementation work needed to make that
23:17
like full vision of like how it could be but also yeah you could do relatively simpler versions like allowing somebody
23:23
with a certain amount of respect to make those posts and we can also coordinate that on a smaller scale say with like council members and stuff like that. So
23:29
I think it'd be good to talk about both like uh short-term promotions and maybe things like we could do like improving
23:35
skills or some automations to have just like more consistent regular promotions and things like that. Uh and then also
23:40
kind of like long-term infrastructure development for how we can improve education materials, educational infrastructure, promotional
Dan shares an educational infrastructure idea around transcript analysis, inspired by Zaal's GM Farcaster interview
23:46
infrastructure. And actually just yesterday, Rosmari and I were talking about an educational infrastructure project that I was thinking about
23:51
regarding like transcript kind of analysis and stuff like that. and and I I'd been
23:57
you know over the breaks all I was looking into your work and uh the interview that you had done with Adrian
24:03
from GM Farcaster about like uh the transcripts and from GM Farcaster and thinking more about how we could do
24:09
something similar to that at Eden Fractal. So I think basically there's a lot for us to talk about there and that's something that would be good to
24:14
discuss in like the coming uh in the coming weeks and so forth. Um, I see Zaal
24:21
writing good, good yes and also sharing a bunch of PeakD articles too that's the PeakD.com
24:28
that's on the Hive blockchain where Jose has been posting a lot of recaps to the
24:34
ZAO Fractal meetings so yeah I checked out some of those over the break as well and appreciate you sharing them
24:40
appreciate Jose making these too I think that's awesome and so using more platforms like PeakD I know that Tadas
24:45
also writes on PeakD fairly often as well um So,
24:50
you have some great articles. You probably have the best articles I know that on PeakD. So, I've gone back to those. Maybe just me going back to read
24:56
them often, but I know over the years you've written like 10 or something over there. Um, and it's a good platform. So,
25:01
yeah, I'm interested to see how how we can do. Uh and also like just figure out the right way to prioritize and phase it
25:06
because there's so much we can build and one of the things we need to do is like focus on just what's the most deliverable and achievable and highest
25:12
priority to focus on you know this month compared to this quarter compared to next quarter and so forth and and and
25:17
kind of like put that out on like a timeline. Um, so yeah, thanks for sharing Zaal and thanks for all the
25:22
enthusiasm and I look forward to collaborating with you on all this uh marketing and promotion stuff as well as this kind of like infrastructure and new
25:29
kinds of apps and or experiences we can build into existing apps like PeakD and
25:34
Twitter and Farcaster and so forth to make um to make respect more useful and
25:39
to also enable more uh more I suppose dynamic capabilities for decision-making
25:46
about what kind of posts to put out and so forth and you look forward to collaborating, figure out like the best path forward with that. I think those
25:52
are all great ideas.
25:58
Okay. Does anybody have any uh comments on this topic or anything else that we've discussed that we want to go back
26:04
to in more detail or just anything else on your mind right now?
Rosmari raises attendance at Eden Fractal events and asks which metrics will represent the community for grants and donors
26:11
Yeah, like my thoughts would be around um
26:17
the importance of uh I suppose the importance of increased
26:25
attendance at Eden Fractal events. I don't know if I should count it in town
26:32
halls attendance like under this but mainly for Eden Fractal's attendance
26:39
because um as Dan said we're thinking about uh our minds are more so focused
26:46
towards um instead of expansion in attendance let's
26:53
say and like other metrics following that attendance um Well, that's like too
26:59
generic, I suppose. But we're focusing towards um fundraising let's say and
27:06
what is required for that and
27:13
increase of attendance which is led by let's say promotion
27:19
and like using other marketing ways to
27:25
increase attendance and like collaboration and things like that.
27:30
um are right now I don't think from my perspective
27:37
uh one of the topics that we talk about or work on at the moment um a lot on
27:46
um and right now we're spending more time thinking about the fundraising aspect of
27:53
the nonprofit and like what would go within that like what
28:01
are the tasks and priorities within that just so we can make like
28:09
this more sustainable on the funding aspect of it and I am curious what your
28:16
thoughts are what your all all of your thoughts are on attendance and because
28:25
I don't know what numbers we'll be using for attendance. when we let's say when
28:33
the nonprofit um would be preparing to apply for let's
28:39
say grants um and or accepting uh donations from
28:45
donors and so forth like what is the metrics we'll be using for attendance and like which is one of the main
28:51
metrics um to represent I suppose
28:57
one of the things to represent is this community's And so
29:02
as of now like how important is attendance because in my perspective we can use
29:08
like like I don't even like there is a work to be done on like brainstorming on what
29:15
like as post metrics one of which is attendance probably that will be used when doing
29:24
these fundraising efforts. I hope this makes sense. But this is where like what
29:30
where my thoughts are going with regards to this conversation so far.
29:38
Of course, I have more thoughts, but this is kind of the something that I'm sharing.
29:47
Thanks, Rosmari. I see Zaal is putting up emojis as too. So, uh, yeah, we've
29:52
talked about this a few times, too. Uh so I'm happy to share my thoughts but also curious, Zaal or Tadas, if you want to
29:58
uh jump in and share some thoughts then go ahead.
Tadas argues attendance is key to a fractal's legitimacy because Respect distribution depends on how many people build consensus
30:04
I think okay attendance to respect game is key for a fractal. This is I think legitimacy of
30:12
the whole respect distribution stands on how many people participate in building
30:18
consensus during respect game. uh and that and also the legitimacy on of the
30:26
respect distribution also depends on uh how wide it is, how many people are in
30:32
the respect distribution, how how distributed it is. Uh because naturally
30:38
when a lot of people attend, you you get some pretty nice distributions like like
30:43
we had for Eden Fractal season 1. And uh in that regard, Eden Fractal not season
30:51
one epoch and in that regard Epoch 2 is very much behind our first Epoch.
30:59
Um of course in comparison with other projects we have on our mind. Uh it's
31:08
also it's always the question how how much time we should spend on that. Uh
31:14
but yeah, you should definitely not forget uh attendance.
Dan describes the balance with onboarding costs and why he scaled back promotions
31:23
Yep, I agree. I think we should gradually ramp up promotions and aim to
31:29
like because there also is a balance too as you said there to do uh at the end and and I agree with everything you
31:35
said. Um but there's a balance where when more people come and our educational infrastructure isn't like
31:43
that clear to people like like for example Timothy uh he joined and he had like a whole bunch of questions and a
31:48
whole bunch of feedback um in like mid or early 2026 and late 2025. and it
31:57
takes a lot of time to onboard somebody. Um, and there's no guarantee that they'll be a consistent contributor after you invest all those resources in
32:04
onboarding people. And so it's really valuable to have like better educational
32:10
resources that when somebody asks a question, you can easily point them to, hey, here's the video, here's the article that you need to see to answer
32:16
this question. Um, and that way it doesn't take time or it doesn't take as much time away from like being able to
32:22
focus on other aspects too. And that's one of the reasons why why I had kind of made like a conscious choice to kind of like scale back promotions a little bit
32:29
and focus more on um the I see somebody named Evelyn is
Miss EV joins the call and Zaal introduces her along with her experience on Artizen
32:35
trying to join. Does anybody know Evelyn? I suppose I'll admit it. Speaking of new people joining, that's me.
32:41
What? I guys you guys are asking for more people. I got one more person. Okay, great. Thank you. Thank you.
32:46
She has a story about Artizen as well if you want to ask about our experience.
32:52
Okay. Well, thank you. Yeah. Uh uh I would love to hear about her story and
32:58
experience with Artizen and and welcome Evelyn. Thanks for joining and thanks, Zaal, for inviting Evelyn. Uh we're just
33:04
uh discussing actually inviting more people to these Eden Fractal events. So we really appreciate you joining and
33:09
um so yeah, if you'd like to introduce yourself and say hello Evelyn then you're very welcome to do so. Uh and
33:15
then maybe just to wrap my thought. So yeah, basically there's that balance and we need to invite more people and and
33:20
and grow that but also we need to improve our educational resources uh so that we can also you know not have to spend too much time on like answering
33:26
each question that question and so um yeah that was kind of my point actually the idea about Zaal as like people
Rosmari adds that social capital matters too, since people from Zao Fractal arrive with background
33:35
like Evelyn for example hi Evelyn welcome uh coming from let's say ZAO
33:41
Fractal and they already have some background on how that works what it is
33:46
you know this that like that's very helpful. So it's not just improving educational resources but like social
33:54
like I think social cap capital wasn't it or what was it?
34:00
Sure. Social capital and and I suppose maybe you mean like people who can kind of like introduce people and
34:06
answer questions and help people understand like the systems and stuff. Is that what you mean to say or
34:11
Yeah. like um people like Zaal who are are already have done on boarding
34:21
um and and like thinking about this is a low-hanging fruit that we can actually
34:28
like when we collaborate more with ZAO, let's say and we can
34:34
yeah work together in in this way. So, it's not just educational resources, but also social capital.
34:42
Yeah, absolutely. And and and Zaal does an amazing job of helping to spread the word about fractals and respect games
34:49
and showing a lot of people how it works at the ZAO Fractal respect games and really appreciate Zaal inviting people
34:54
from ZAO Fractal and and your larger network too. Um, so
35:00
yeah, I totally agree with that. there are some processes that that are unique and to Eden Fractal and can cause
35:06
additional kind of confusion um that ZAO Fractal is currently not doing like a quorum process and so forth. Um so that's
35:12
also another consideration. So I I think both having the combination of like amazing uh contributors in the community
35:18
and educators like Zaal uh and then also having better educational resources um are both really helpful to being able to
35:24
scale up our impact and and participation invite more people to do great things. Also, Zaal, I saw that you were trying to speak before, but it
35:30
sound like you're cutting in and out. So, feel free to jump in. Also, Tadas has his hands up too for a while. So, I suppose anybody who wants just jump in
35:37
and we'll go. Uh, I don't know if you want to go first cuz you had your hands up. U maybe best for you to go first,
35:43
but also Zaal's kind of in the middle of something too. So, I don't know.
35:50
And also, Evelyn has your hands up now, too. How about Zaal, you go first because you have your hands up and you're unmuted. And then afterwards, we'll go
35:55
to Tadas and Evelyn if that sounds good.
36:05
Zaal, the audio is not good anymore. I I think that uh yeah, maybe you maybe
36:14
try again in a couple minutes after you've driven to a different place like that. Maybe you'll have better connection. Maybe first we can pass it
36:19
over to Tadas and then I'll pass it to EV and then come back to Zaal after that.
Tadas compares Epoch 1 and Epoch 2 and suggests delegate meetings alongside general meetings for newcomers
36:24
Uh I wanted to second your thought on to
36:29
agree with your point then that um regarding uh educational resources
36:35
and onboarding. I feel like in Epoch one it was easier to build a
36:42
bigger participation because it was easier to get everyone on the same page
36:48
in Epoch 2. I feel I sometimes feel like we have this group of basically fractal
36:54
experts and new people who join we we feel overwhelmed in in these discussions
37:01
sometimes. Um yeah so but I'm not sure if educational
37:08
resources are enough because it's it takes a lot of it takes time to read
37:14
through stuff and to learn um maybe some meet separate meetings where for people
37:22
who are long-term participants maybe more delegate only meetings
37:29
u where we discuss all all plans and so on. Uh versus
37:36
this general meeting where we invite people, welcome everyone and on board uh
37:42
have more uh free form discussion.
Dan supports onboarding events and considers making some town halls introductory and others more advanced
37:50
Yeah, I think that's a great idea to thank you. Yeah, we definitely need the combination of the educational resources plus like um you know like Rosmari was
37:58
saying and how you also kind of spoke about um people to help onboard people and people to help guide people through
38:03
the process and answer questions and specifically having like onboarding events or maybe I don't know maybe a
38:09
weekly or bi-weekly or monthly kind of like ask me anything kind of thing and different kinds of educational materials
38:15
like like for example somebody's live streaming they can answer questions and so forth. Um, I see Rosmari also wrote
38:21
like invite them to town halls first if it's their first time. So that's also a good thing too. Although sometimes town halls we discuss like proposals to do
38:28
something that's kind of like very technical or very kind of like uh more so fractal expert kind of thing like
38:33
people who have been around. So it might be over their heads too. So maybe have some town halls that are more like onboarding and open for everybody to
38:40
join and ask basic questions and some town halls maybe it makes sense to bring back the weekly town hall at some point.
38:45
Uh and have some weeks where it's just like kind of more open and introductory and then some weeks where it's like
38:51
proposals for more advanced and sophisticated kinds of improvements and stuff. Um yeah, I think these are all
38:56
great ideas. Uh and I'm curious to see what Evelyn thinks. I also see Rosmari, you made another comment there about past contributors, but maybe um we can
39:03
come back to that comment and also comment after Evelyn uh shares and says
39:09
hello. Um and then we can come back to inviting past contributors and uh the
39:15
role that fundraising can play in that as well. So, welcome everyone.
Miss EV introduces herself and shares that her Artizen raised over $10,600 in its first eight hours
39:20
Hey y'all. Hey, thanks for having me in. Thanks for the warm welcome. Y'all can just call me EV. Sorry, my full government name is
39:27
out there, but yeah, I just go by EV. Um, but yeah, thanks for having me in. I'm I'm excited to learn more what y'all
39:33
are talking about. And shout out to Zaal for um bringing me in. I think y'all were talking a little bit about about
39:38
Artizen whenever I joined. I had some people uh kind of push me to start an
39:45
Artizen yesterday and we did uh over $10,600 in the first eight hours. So,
39:52
huge fundraising and uh yeah, happy for the support and happy to help anybody um
39:58
that wants support over there as well. All right. Well, thank you very much,
40:03
EV. Um we really appreciate you being here and joining and yeah, I'm curious to learn more about your experience with
40:09
Artizen. It sounds like you had an awesome start so far. So, I'm curious what kind of work you do in creations. I
40:15
have a decent understanding of Artizen, but I don't know it fully. Uh so if you did want to share more about like I
40:23
suppose how you uh like I suppose what you're raising
40:28
funds for in Artizen and how your experience has been as well as also how you know, Zaal, I I suppose maybe you're
40:35
familiar with the ZAO Fractal and I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Eden Fractal, uh, but if you want to share any more about yourself or perhaps
40:40
answer any of those questions or or a bit more about the Artizen and your experience then then we'd love to hear it as well.
Miss EV describes founding Community of Communities and the Wave Wars charity music battles with Zaal
40:46
definitely new to the Eden Fractal. Um, so for me, I'm a founding member of the
40:52
Community of Communities. So met Zaal a couple years ago and then worked with him to raise funds through
40:59
the Wave Wars platform. So over the last year, we've hosted um I think this is
41:05
our fourth Wave Wars uh music battle
Miss EV explains the Poly Raiders work keeping girls in school in Africa by selling their art as NFTs on Base
41:10
charity battle tomorrow uh where we have been raising funds for a community in
41:15
Africa um and a group called Poly Raiders and Poly Raiders he started his
41:22
group um to keep girls in school. So, um
41:28
the poverty is horrible over there and so when girls would start their monthly
41:33
[snorts] cycle, they did not have resources to keep them in school. So, the girls would either drop out of
41:39
school completely or um just not show up to school for a week while they were on their monthly cycle. So, um Moses with
41:47
Poly Raiders, he worked with the kids to draw art which to then create uh they
41:53
turned them into NFTs. they would sell them for $150 on Base to get um period
41:59
sanitary pads to keep girls in school. Um from that we've done more than that.
42:05
We've done Christmas, Valentine's, um a water event where we've raised funds um
42:12
for kids to get clothes, shoes, backpacks, toothbrushes, books, food,
42:20
um sewing machines for them to learn a skill. trying to think. Oh, and our our
42:25
last event was about three months ago where we were able to get them a well, so now they have access to clean water.
Miss EV shares the goal of building a vocational school, with just under $35,000 raised toward $80,000
42:32
Um, so just raising funds to help this community in Africa. Now we are trying to build a vocational school which would
42:38
need $80,000. Um, and we're now at just under $35,000 the
42:43
last I checked. Um, so once we get the school built, kids will then learn a skill to where
42:50
they are able to start earning income. um and help get them out of poverty. So
42:57
hopefully that answered most of your questions. If I missed any, please feel free to shoot more my way.
43:05
All right, that's wonderful, EV. Thank you for sharing and thank you also for helping people in need. That sounds
43:12
that sounds very helpful and also nice to put together some pieces too. We had met I see Rosmari giving some claps. Uh
43:19
so you mentioned that you work with Community of Communities and um
43:24
yeah I'm familiar with Community of Communities work and been following your work I guess uh with the community and
43:30
communities for maybe two years now or so. Um yeah been going at it for over six years
43:37
now. Started in 2020. Um so my biggest
43:43
impact I guess would be um fundraising and helping other people. So me starting
43:50
my own Artizen was the push to say, "Hey, like people can support you and it doesn't have to come out of your
43:56
savings, your credit card, your bank account all the time." Um cuz I I donate
44:01
quite a bit. And yesterday they had some um it was like double back. So every $10
44:08
you sent to it, if if you're a project and you send to a different project, every $10 you would get 20 back. So Zaal
44:15
and James and a couple other people were like, "No, EV, like this is how you make what you do sustainable. Like, we
44:21
need you to do this." And honestly, I'm just blown away. So, um the money that I
44:27
raise is just going to go help other people and it's going to go a lot further. So, I I'm very thankful. Very
44:33
thankful. Awesome. Well, yeah, I'm very thankful for you uh sharing with us as well as
44:40
all the work you're doing out there with Zaal and the team at Community of
44:45
Communities. Um yeah, we've met uh Thy Revolution. He's joined he joined a couple events before, too. And I've
44:51
watched a bunch of your videos online, too. Um so, yeah, really excited to learn more about that. And if you'd like
44:57
to share any links to your Artizen fund or or any of your work, um yeah, I have
45:02
communityofcommunities.xyz here, which I believe is the website. um that EV
45:07
was talking about uh or I suppose the website that represents the Community of Communities that EV was talking
45:12
about. Feel free to correct me uh if I'm wrong and uh yeah from there you can find the YouTube and stuff like that and
45:17
yeah. Okay, great. If you'd like to share any other uh information EV or
45:23
links to your Artizen or anything I was actually looking for an Artizen and I found the ZAO Fund for Emerging Culture
45:28
on Artizen. I'll actually share that link cuz I know was looking for that before and I don't know if he found it. Um, so I'll share that in the uh Zoom
45:34
chat. If you'd like to share anything else, uh, EV, um, then feel free. I
45:40
would love to see your Artizen fund as well to learn more about it. Um, and yeah. Yeah. Yeah, of course. Um, if you
45:48
have any questions too about Eden Fractal too, then happy to answer. Appreciate you joining. And, and I'm curious too, I don't know if you
45:54
commented if you're familiar with uh, the ZAO Fractal as well. Um, if you joined any of those. to know you till
46:00
you've met Zaal and collaborated with him. But uh yeah, I'm also curious if you're
46:05
familiar with the Fractal ecosystem and the respect games that we play and so forth. So if there's anything else you want to share, then feel free. Also, we
46:11
are 2 minutes top of the hour. We started a bit late, so we can keep going with the town hall for I don't know maybe another 10 minutes before we start
46:17
playing the respect game. And you're very welcome to uh uh join and play the respect game with us EV if you'll be
46:23
available. Um but yeah, first we can just have a bit more discussion about uh your work with uh the Artizen fund as
46:29
well as um, Tadas and Rosmari. I saw Rosmari there's a couple questions you asked. You asked what entity did you
46:35
reply with which I think was answered already and we can touch back on your thought about past contributors and Tadas
46:40
mentioned respect splits idea and past respect distributions and so forth. And so we can also in the final uh 10
46:48
minutes or so of this town hall, we can also round back to any other discussion topics that we uh maybe opened up and
46:54
hadn't cleared or maybe uh maybe open up anything quickly as kind of intentions for the next meeting or anything else
47:01
you'd like to share for kind of plans for our season 13 of Eden Fractal here. So uh Rosmari should ask EV um would
47:08
you like to share anything? Oh, I see EV shared the Artizen fund. if it be like I can share anything on on the
47:14
screen too to give people more visual of an idea. I did share it but I do apologize. I have a work meeting that starts in 1
47:20
minute. So I am going to have to drop but I um I signed up for the one the
47:25
call that y'all have the next hour as well. So hopefully I can join the last 30 minutes if this meeting wraps up
47:32
quicker. So hope to join y'all again soon. And thank you for having me.
47:38
But feel free to reach out on like all socials. It's Miss EV 812 — X,
47:44
TikTok, all the things. So, I appreciate it. Thank you. Sounds great. Thank you, EV. Thank
47:49
you for joining us. Hope you have a great day and hope to see you again at the next meeting and and also we do have
47:55
meetings every other week on Thursdays and we have a telegram group that you're very welcome to join too. Hope to keep in touch and thanks so much.
48:00
Yes, please send the links or we'll reach out to Zaal. Thank you. Have a good one. All right. Thank you. You too.
48:13
All right, gonna follow EV. She's Miss EV uh at 812 on X and um
48:23
yeah, so great to speak with EV and Rosmari.
Dan asks Tadas about respect splits and invites him to share contributions from the break
48:28
Do you have any other thoughts? Do you want to maybe touch on that thing with the respect splits or anything else we
48:34
should discuss or also we could just wrap up the town hall uh now too if we'd
48:39
like to just just wrap it up early and go into the respect game sooner. I know you said you also had to go before the respect game too. Um if you wanted to do
48:47
you could also just share anything you've been up to over the break and then we can count that in our consensus rankings for the respect game. Um, and
48:56
yeah, I'd be interested to hear what you've been up to. Have you had the chance to work on anything to do over the past uh
49:03
over the past weeks? No, I don't didn't have any contributions or
49:10
on the break. Yeah, I think I I I will be I will be
49:18
going now. Uh, thanks for meeting. I think we we it's been good to to get
49:27
to get in in thinking about about to get things started about Fractal
49:34
this season. Mhm. Absolutely. I think it's been a productive discussion and I'm excited
49:40
for uh the next meetings that we'll have and continue our discussions and
49:48
um making progress on all these different initiatives and projects and and figure out what makes most sense for us to focus on together in this season
49:55
and then achieving that. Really excited about it. Okay, see you. Have a good respect game.
50:02
All right, thanks, Tadas. I hope you have a great night.
50:08
All right, welcome back Zaal. Hope that your internet is working better now.
50:16
And if uh Rosmari or Zaal you have any final thoughts for the town hall, then
50:21
feel free to share. I see Zaal put up the heart. Um we can also just move into the respect game now and play the respect
50:26
game with us three uh whenever we're ready as well.
Dan closes the town hall and notes the next one on Thursday, September 24
50:39
Okay, Rosmari says she'll be back in a minute. And I'm assuming maybe
50:45
Zaal, you're on the go. Uh, so maybe I'll just go ahead and wrap up the town hall
50:50
formally and I'll just share a quick screen share to kick us off for the respect game. Uh and then if there are
50:56
any topics that we want to continue during the respect game from the town hall, then we can just continue those kind of informally during the respect
51:02
game. And otherwise, uh thanks so much for the great discussion of town hall and excited for the next one which will
51:08
be I believe Thursday, September 24th, um for the next town hall. Thanks all.
